Mentalab is a biosensor and neurotechnology firm based in Munich, Germany. We make some of the world’s most advanced EEG sensor systems. Scientists, researchers, hobbyists, and companies use our device to get insight into brain and body function.
We’re growing fast and our multicultural and dynamic team is looking for a working student to contribute to our open source and proprietary codebase. This role does not require full expertise, however, work experience and evidence of professional software development will be looked upon favourably.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with other team members and researchers to design and implement solutions based on user requirements in an agile development environment.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code for real-time biosensor data processing and visualization, ready for cross-platform deployment.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.
- Bugfix across backend and GUI respositories.
Required experience
- Bachelors or Masters student in computer science or related field.
- Strong proficiency in Python and familiarity with Git and data processing libraries, such as NumPy and SciPy.
Ideal experience
- Understanding of computer graphics fundamentals and architectural principles of data visualization.
- Experience with mobile application development (Android and/or iOS).

We’re growing fast and our multicultural and dynamic team is looking for a working student to prototype and assemble our devices. This role does not require expertise as we will train you on the job. However, experience with overcoming engineering challenges and hardware/software experience will be looked upon favourably.
Responsibilities
- Manually assemble and test of our BLE devices.
- Rapidly prototype our devices using Arduino, Raspberry Pi or ESP32.
- Develop test cases for BLE devices in Python.
Required experience
- Bachelors or Masters student in computer science or electronics.
- Basic knowledge of Python and Git.
Ideal experience
- Experience of other programming languages (particularly C).
- Basic experience with Arduino or Raspberry Pi or similar.
- Soldering skills.
